The Garmin 255 has a 3.5” touch screen and includes pre-loaded maps of the United States and Canada. It also has the text-to-speech feature and shows the way with voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions that speak street names. This GPS is reasonably priced and easy to use. The Garmin nuvi 255 has a point of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel stations, ATMs and many more. There are also the 2D and 3D map views to switch to as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a larger picture of the surrounding terrain. In addition, this GPS accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to notify you of upcoming POIs.
The Garmin 255 sports a sleek, lean design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or by foot. With its “Where Am I?” emergency locator, you forever know your location. You just simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations.
This Car GPS also comprises many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and many more. With photo navigation, you can download Google Panoramic pictures via the Garmin Connect Photos website and navigate to them. The device is compatible with MSN Direct content and our free Garmin Garage where you can download animated vehicles that reveal your location on the map. It also has the Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature.
