New to the market from Garmin are a couple of classy and feature loaded GPS models for the road, the latest Garmin nuvi 3790T and the Garmin nuvi 3760T. Both add something new to the user experience. It may just be one of the best GPS in the market right now.

Both devices measure less than 5 inches by 3 inches and roll in at a super slimline nought point three five inches thick, making it easy to store and bring around It can be mounted either in portrait or landscape and the screen is a bright backlit eight hundred by four hundred and eighty pixel TFT unit, with multi touch sensitivity, and covers most of the front of the device.

A 4 hour rechargeable lithium ion battery works just fine, although if you are bringing it out, bear in mind that neither unit is waterproof. Both slim units have very up to date high GPS sensitivity receivers.

As you travel with either the 3790T or the 3760T, they have the capacity to learn your most travelled routes and work to reduce your journey times by directing you around high traffic. This system is new from Garmin and is called trafficTrends.

The 3790T differs slightly from the 3760T in that it has voice recognition for commands like ‘find address’ and acts on it. You can thus focus on handling your vehicle while driving.

Both devices let you pair your Bluetooth enabled mobile phones with them and allow touch screen key pad dialing, and regular use contact saving for instant access. It’s a convenient extra to have wireless hands free call potential available from the Nuvis, especially if your car doesn’t have it built in.

Specifications-wise, these 2 models hardly differ, aside from the aforementioned voice command capability, the 3790T differs from its sister model in its ability to present cityscapes in 3D. This unique feature makes it very easy to visually match the screen with your surroundings and base your route decisions on real information.

Both models come with a decent map selection, however they can also be added on with downloadable content, which can be downloaded either onto the units built in internal memory or onto an optional microSD card, sold separately.

One of the most fascinating new features on both the Nuvis is ecoRoute. EcoRoute analyses your journeys and driving patterns and suggests different routes that place less emphasis on brake usage and subsequent acceleration, which improves fuel economy.
