There are several options for the treatment of migraine headaches. There are two ways to classify the treatments of migraine headaches, the prevention and the pain relievers. Acute or abortive treatments include the use of pain relievers that are used when the headache first begins. The medications for the purpose of preventing migraines are to cut down on recurring headaches and to lessen the intensity when you do get one. A professional should be your first point of contact if your having any signs of optical migraine or complicated migraine.

Your doctor will decide which is the best treatment for your migraine headaches. If it is decided you need to take an anti-inflammatory drug for your mild to medium migraines, there are many choices which include aspirin. Treatment can be a combined aspirin, caffeine and acetaminophen to get the best results. This will probably not work for severe migraines but for most headaches taking some form of aspirin and then laying down in a dark room for an hour will alleviate the discomfort. A doctor should be your first call if you are having any signs of migraine headache symptoms.

Aspirin is a very common method of pain relief. More than 80 billion aspirin pills are taken all over the world each year for pain relief including the pain of migraines. A lot of products contain generic aspirin which is actually acetylsalicylic acid.

Chemicals are commonly associated with headaches. When a headache happens there is a hormone that sends the brain pain signals that becomes over-productive. Any kind of anti-inflammatory property that is used will lower the amount of prostaglandin that is contained in the body. Aspirin spreads through the whole body after it is ingested but it only acts on places were prostaglandin is being currently produced. The brain will stop getting pain signals once this action happens.

It is very safe to use products containing aspirin just a couple times in a week but using this more than that will only cause a headache that is considered rebound from too much use of the medicine. The time that you need to visit your health care professional about your migraine headaches is when they happen all the time and are becoming more painful.
